AcuDC 240 - Data Log Configuration using meters internal memory on Acuview

This document provides a procedure on how to configure the data log on the AcuDC 240 series meters as well as how to read the data from the data log once configured.

You will need to be connected to the software Acuview 3.7.2 via RS485 to USB converter.

Two wires should be used in connecting the USB-RS485 converter to the meter:

1. T/R+ from the converter to 'A' (14) on the meter

2. T/R- from the converter to 'B'(15) on the meter

After checking the physical connection, confirm the port number.  This is done by going into your ‘device manager’ on your computer, then click on the ports (COMM & LPT) to view the connections.


NOTE: A Com Port will only be assigned to the USB-RS485 converter if the driver for the USB-RS485 converter has been installed successfully.

Lastly, ensure that the following settings are the same on both the meter and software on the computer to establish communication:

Device Address
Baud Rate
Parity


NOTE: The default settings on the AcuDC 240 series meter are:

Device Address: 1
Baud rate:  19200
ParityNON1


From the meter display the settings can be verified.

A password screen will be displayed, the default password is 0000.  Press V/A to continue.

The first page is the Modbus Address “Add”.
To change the address press to enter edit mode.
Press V/A to confirm and move to the next digit.
Press F to increase the digit.

Press V/A to move to the next screen.  This is the baud rate configuration “bps.
To change the address press to enter edit mode.
Press V/A to confirm and move to the next digit.
Press F to increase the digit.

Press V/A to move to the next screen.  This is the communication parity “CHEC”.
To change the address press to enter edit mode.

Acuview Software

The Acuview software can be downloaded from accuenergy.com.

Open the software, a Connection Setting window will appear.
Select the COM Port and communication settings confirmed in the steps above.

Next add the device.
Select the device type, connection created in step above, Modbus address and description.

Once connected to the software, the first step in setting up the data log would be to configure the time on the meter.


To configure the time, click on the Readings tab located on the left navigation panel of the software and select Device Information.  

On the Device Information page, you will see the option to configure the device click according to the computers time.  

Click on Set Device Clock to change the time.














Steps to configure Data Log:

Click on the Settings tab and select Data Log

All the data logging parameter will be displayed on the window on the left.
















To add the parameters to the data log, select the parameter and click on the Add button. 
 
Once added, the parameter will show on the right panel of the data log settings page.

To remove a parameter from the data log, select the parameter and click on the Delete button.  To clear the data log of all parameters, click on the Delete All button.

In the Space Allocation section of the Data Log Settings page, there will be an overview of the meter’s memory specifying the amount of memory used and the amount of memory remaining.  
The maximum logging records is also displayed in this section.

Next in the Time Setting section of the Data Log Settings page is where the logging interval is configured.  

The logging interval ranges from 1-1440 minutes, where the maximum of 1440 minutes is equivalent to one day. 

Next in the Logging Mode section choose the desired logging method. 

The logging options are continuous, interval, and scheduling.  

Continuous - The data log starts log immediately until the memory is full and will override from the old data log entry.
Interval - The start time and end time can be selected.
Scheduling -  The start time for the data log can be selected, with no end time (log until memory is full).

Ensure to select the 'Enable' box to enable the data log.








Once all settings are saved, users must click Update Device after making changes so that the changes can be saved on the meter.


NOTEWhen you click on Update Device, the meter’s data log memory will be erased.




Reading the Data Log:

In the left navigation window click the Readings tab, and then select Data Log.

















On the top of the Data Log page there will be a summary of the Data log.  It will indicate the maximum number of records of the data log, the number of used records, the record size, the window status, and the first- and last-time stamp of the logged data.

In the drop down menu choose which records to read, the options are: 
Read newest 50 records.
Read 1000 records.
Read 64000 records.
Read 1000 records (Select Time)
Read 64000 records (Select Time) 
The last two options can have a time and date specified as to when to start reading the records.
Once the correct options are specified click the Read button.

The data will appear on the page with the time stamp that it was recorded at.

















There is an option to save the data log file.  The data log can be saved by clicking on the 'Save to File' button. 
The file can be saved as either a text file, CSV file, or Excel file.
